Mission
The Museum of the Canals tells the story of the Amsterdam canals: about then, now and in the future. The history of the Amsterdam canals is told in an accessible way to reach and inspire as many people as possible.

Foundation Het Grachtenhuis is a non-profit organization and serves the public interest. The foundation’s aim is to convey the history of the Amsterdam canal ring (UNESCO: Seventeenth-Century Canal Ring Area of Amsterdam inside the Singelgracht) to a broad public. This aim is realized via the existence, maintenance and exploitation of the museum: ‘Museum of the Canals’.
