The canal house was most likely built to the design of Hendrick de Keyser, a city stonemason from Amsterdam. The facade is lavishly decorated with (imaginative) sculpture ornaments. When it was built, Bartolotti House was one of the largest merchant houses in the city of Amsterdam. In the middle of the 18th century, a huge back house was built, with the main hall in Rococo style as the highlight.

Herengracht 170, 1016 BP Amsterdam
Opening hours: Wednesday till Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_button button_url=”https://www.hendrickdekeyser.nl/museumbezoek/huis-bartolotti-Amsterdam” url_new_window=”on” button_text=”Website” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” custom_button=”on” button_text_size=”17px” button_text_color=”#FFFFFF” button_bg_color=”#008351″ button_border_color=”#008351″ button_border_radius=”0px” button_font=”Poppins||||||||” button_icon=”$||divi||400″ custom_margin=”22px||22px||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}” button_border_color__hover_enabled=”on|hover” button_border_color__hover=”#008351″][/et_pb_button][et_pb_gallery gallery_ids=”4835″ fullwidth=”on” _builder_version=”4.18.0″ _module_preset=”default” width=”50%” width_tablet=”48%” width_phone=”100%” width_last_edited=”on|phone” custom_margin=”5px|5px|5px|5px|false|false” custom_padding=”|25px|||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_gallery][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.18.0″ _module_preset=”default” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”12px” custom_padding=”5px|50px|||false|false” custom_padding_tablet=”20px|50px||50px|false|false” custom_padding_phone=”2px|0px|0px|2px|false|false” custom_padding_last_edited=”on|desktop” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Arjan Bronkhorst, Bartolotti House, Hendrick de Keyser

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.18.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_divider][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.18.0″ background_color=”#008351″ custom_padding=”100px|||100px|false|false” custom_padding_tablet=”100px|||100px|false|false” custom_padding_phone=”20px|10px|20px|20px|false|false” custom_padding_last_edited=”on|phone” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text admin_label=”Title” _builder_version=”4.24.2″ text_font=”||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ header_font=”||||||||” header_2_font=”Poppins|600|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#000000″ header_2_font_size=”27px” header_2_line_height=”1.2em” header_3_font=”Poppins||||||||” header_3_text_color=”#FFFFFF” header_3_font_size=”26px” background_layout=”dark” max_width=”750px” custom_margin=”||||false|false” animation_direction=”left” header_2_font_size_tablet=”36px” header_2_font_size_phone=”26px” header_2_font_size_last_edited=”on|phone” header_3_font_size_tablet=”26px” header_3_font_size_phone=”22px” header_3_font_size_last_edited=”on|phone” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Houseboat Museum

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider color=”#000000″ divider_position=”center” divider_weight=”3px” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ max_width=”50px” animation_style=”slide” animation_intensity_slide=”10%” animation_starting_opacity=”100%” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ text_font=”Poppins||||||||” text_text_color=”#FFFFFF” text_line_height=”1.8em” max_width=”750px” custom_margin=”10px|50px|||false|false” custom_margin_tablet=”25px|50px|||false|false” custom_margin_phone=”25px|50px|||false|false” custom_margin_last_edited=”on|desktop” animation_direction=”left” text_font_size_tablet=”” text_font_size_phone=”17px” text_font_size_last_edited=”on|phone” global_colors_info=”{}”]

The Amsterdam Houseboat Museum was initiated in 1996 by Vincent van Loon. In 1885, the window frames were replaced and T-windows were installed that determine the current front view of the building. This makes the building stand out. After a series of impressive residents, the canal house at number 497 was purchased by the Herengracht 497 Foundation. The house was then completely renovated and furnished as a Cat Cabinet. They offer a wide look at the role of the cat in art and in culture through the centuries.

Herengracht 497, 1017 BT Amsterdam
Opening hours: Tuesday till Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_button button_url=”https://kattenkabinet.nl/en/” url_new_window=”on” button_text=”Website” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” custom_button=”on” button_text_size=”17px” button_text_color=”#FFFFFF” button_bg_color=”#008351″ button_border_color=”#008351″ button_border_radius=”0px” button_font=”Poppins||||||||” button_icon=”$||divi||400″ custom_margin=”22px||22px||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}” button_border_color__hover_enabled=”on|hover” button_border_color__hover=”#008351″][/et_pb_button][et_pb_gallery gallery_ids=”4871″ fullwidth=”on” _builder_version=”4.18.0″ _module_preset=”default” width=”50%” width_tablet=”48%” width_phone=”100%” width_last_edited=”on|phone” custom_margin=”5px|5px|5px|5px|false|false” custom_padding=”|25px|||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_gallery][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.18.0″ _module_preset=”default” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”12px” custom_padding=”5px|50px|||false|false” custom_padding_tablet=”20px|50px||50px|false|false” custom_padding_phone=”2px|0px|0px|2px|false|false” custom_padding_last_edited=”on|desktop” global_colors_info=”{}”]

KattenKabinet, 2021

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.18.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_divider][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.18.0″ background_color=”#008351″ custom_padding=”100px|||100px|false|false” custom_padding_tablet=”100px|||100px|false|false” custom_padding_phone=”20px|10px|20px|20px|false|false” custom_padding_last_edited=”on|phone” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text admin_label=”Title” _builder_version=”4.24.2″ text_font=”||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ header_font=”||||||||” header_2_font=”Poppins|600|||||||” header_2_text_color=”#000000″ header_2_font_size=”27px” header_2_line_height=”1.2em” header_3_font=”Poppins||||||||” header_3_text_color=”#FFFFFF” header_3_font_size=”26px” background_layout=”dark” max_width=”750px” custom_margin=”||||false|false” animation_direction=”left” header_2_font_size_tablet=”36px” header_2_font_size_phone=”26px” header_2_font_size_last_edited=”on|phone” header_3_font_size_tablet=”26px” header_3_font_size_phone=”22px” header_3_font_size_last_edited=”on|phone” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Huis Marseille

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider color=”#000000″ divider_position=”center” divider_weight=”3px” _builder_version=”4.18.0″ max_width=”50px” animation_style=”slide” animation_intensity_slide=”10%” animation_starting_opacity=”100%” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ text_font=”Poppins||||||||” text_text_color=”#FFFFFF” text_line_height=”1.8em” max_width=”750px” custom_margin=”10px|50px|||false|false” custom_margin_tablet=”25px|50px|||false|false” custom_margin_phone=”25px|10px|||false|false” custom_margin_last_edited=”on|desktop” animation_direction=”left” text_font_size_tablet=”” text_font_size_phone=”17px” text_font_size_last_edited=”on|phone” global_colors_info=”{}”]

The Huis Marseille is Amsterdam’s first photography museum and is also housed in two historic 17th-century canal houses.
