The Museum of the Canals (Grachtenmuseum) is located in the heart of Amsterdam at Herengracht 386, within walking distance of, for example, Dam Square and Museumplein. The museum tells about the history of Amsterdam and its canals. Visitors see a permanent multimedia exhibition, art exhibitions, a 17th-century canal house with period rooms, a show room with 18th-century wall paintings and a beautiful ceiling painting. Ideal for young and old who want to discover the city and first want to know something about its history.<\/p>\n
The museum has only been around for 10 years and can really be called a hidden gem. Ideal for those who want to get off the beaten track and see something unique, but still want to stay in the center of Amsterdam. A visit takes about 1 hour.<\/p>\n
