Iris Plessius

Iris Plessius studied both American Studies and History and is currently working as a PhD student at Radboud University Nijmegen with a research project focusing on the relationship between Dutch settlers and the original inhabitants of North America in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. In addition, she makes and provides guided tours of the Royal Palace Amsterdam, Museum of the Canals, Museum Catharijneconvent and about the Amsterdam canals. Her work is at the intersection of academic research and public history. Her interests are Indigenous Studies, Dutch-American relations, the history of Amsterdam and the influences of the Christian church in Western Europe.

Niels Nannes

Niels Nannes studied Art History with a specialization in architectural history and is first grade teacher Art for secondary education. He is currently working as a teacher of Art History at the Teacher Training College of Utrecht University, with a special focus on art and museum education, learning to look better at art and art analysis. Niels is also a museum lecturer and tour guide at the Royal Palace Amsterdam, Museum of the Canals, the Rijksmuseum and also gives architecture walks in Amsterdam from the historic city centre to self-construction projects on IJburg. Besides art history in general, the urban development of Amsterdam, the ring of canals, architecture and art has his special interest.
